Two Down

The US has accumulated six important points toward qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, with a victory over Cuba last night. If they go, I go, so naturally I'm ecstatic. It's too bad that Yanks have to hide thier faces from Big Brother. Spending thier own hard earned money in Cuba is still a no no to our backward government. This embargo should have ended 40 years ago and we need to accept that we do not own and control other countries. Besides, Cuba is a great place to bike tour. (More so the second time).

Now the Revs? That's a whole different story. A 4-0 crushing defeat is having the most diehard of us fans wondering about our chances of getting through the first round of the playoffs.

Time will tell.

  1. I thought the embargo was misguided when I was 10 years old and I still do. What the hell is wrong with our country?

Actually, I'm not a supporter of all this nationalistic stuff, but it's fun to chant sometimes.

  3. What's your take on the criticism that the present incantation of the Nat'l team? Seems like the same old "no creativity, no worldclass..." stuff we always see. Granted, they may be right. I certainly don't see any ability to score on a regular basis.

    Happy non-Hurricane.

  4. The embargo is a perfect example of the USA biting off its nose to spite its face. It made sense in 1962 and maybe for another 10 years after. But I would say it is has been nothing but holding a grdge for the last 36 years. We don't want to piss off South Florida either. Might not vote for us.
