At 80F We couldn't resist riding

I cancelled tennis, Brandon cancelled the gym workout.  It was 80F and screaming for a bike ride.  We did one of our regular routes, a 17 mile to the town of Wareham Ma.

We packed a lunch of chicken sandwiches.   A story about that.  When I went to the market I asked for the chicken that tasted like chicken soup and ordered a pound and a half.  It was ten bucks a pound .  Now I know I should ask the price first.

Brandon has been going to the gym regularly and he is getting very annoying with all the posing.

Bicyclist killed in New Bedford Industrial Park

By Colin A. Young, Globe Correspondent

A bicyclist was killed Wednesday evening when she was struck by a freight truck in the New Bedford Industrial Park, police said.

Dartmouth police said Cynthia Pacheco, 58, of New Bedford was bicycling with her husband on Samuel Barnett Boulevard around 6 p.m. when she was hit by a FedEx truck that was making a left turn onto Flaherty Drive.

Dartmouth Police Detective Robert Levinson said “it remains to be seen” whether the truck driver will face charges related to the incident. Levinson said he could not confirm if the victim was wearing a helmet when she was hit.

The accident happened in a section of the park that is in Dartmouth, Levinson said.

Pacheco was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, and then to Rhode Island Hospital, where she died from her injuries. Levinson said the Dartmouth police accident reconstruction specialist and the State Police are still investigating the incident.

No further information was immediately available.

  2. We also have to find out if the FedEx driver was wearing a seat belt. That could have done as much to save the bikers life as the helmet.
